The De Lisle Hours contains a book of hours for the use of Sarum, including the Hours of the Virgin and the Office of the Dead (source). The Short Office of the Cross, ascribed to Pope John XXII (1316-1334) on ff. 2v-4v and the note on the birth of Roger de Bettesthorne's son, John, on pastedown on the inside front cover together date this to 1315-1331 (source).
This manuscript was made for a member of the de Lisle family, as indicated by their arms which are present on f. 19 and by a dedication written by Robert de Lisle to his daughter Audere and after her death to his daughter Alborou on f. 122 (source). By 1331, as indicated by the note described above, it was owned by Roger de Bettesthorne and later in the 14th Century it is thought to have been owned by John and Eleanor de Mere before being owned by Emme Drew in the 14th or 15th Century (source).
