Hannibal and his troops besiege a castle, f. 150r. |
Official name(s): Bibliothèque nationale de France, NAF 3576
Date: 14th Century (source), likely c. 1340-70 based on illustrations
Origin: France (source)
Online facsimile available via: Bibliothèque nationale de France Gallica digital library
This manuscript has very similar illustration styles to that of BNF Fr. 246, BL Royal 16 G VII, and Dublin, Chester Beatty Library, ms. 74 (source). All of these contain an iconographic cycle and similar decoration, colour choices, borders, program of illustrations and frontispieces (source). It is thought that they are the work of the Parisian workshops of the third quarter of the 14th Century (source).
At the end of this manuscript (f. 345) are the signatures of 'Loys de Luxembourg' and 'Philippe de Clèves', along with the arms and motto of the latter (source).
