This manuscript shows a number of figures from ancient history, including Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar, in the clothing and armour of the late 14th Century in France. The majority of the images are without any bizzare dress to indicate historical and/or foreign times. Thus, they can be used for interpreting medieval costume and clothing.

Basic descriptions of the illustrations are provided by the British Library with the facsimile.
