The Manesse Codex is a songbook consisting of the works of approximately 140 Minnesingers of the mid 12th C to early 14th C. The poems are mostly minnesang but other genres are also included. The Manesse Codex contains 137 full-page idealised "portraits" of the minnesinger poets, identified for the most part by name. A list of the poets is provided by the Universitätsbibliothek Heidelberg. They are also listed here.
The Manesse Codex was started c. 1300 in Zurich but several additions were made c. 1340. I cannot find any information regarding which sections are believed to be the later additions.
Basic descriptions of the illustrations (in German) are provided by the Universitätsbibliothek Heidelberg with the facsimile on their Image Database HeidICON.
