Treatises (BL Yates Thompson MS 11)

Mass, f. 6v.

Colloquial name(s): Treatises
Official name(s): British Library, Yates Thompson MS 11

Date: c. 1290 (source)
Origin: Lorraine, N.E. France or central France (Paris or Maubuisson?) (source)

This manuscript contains four moral treatises: La Sainte Abbaye (ff. 2r-7r), a treatise on love (ff. 7r-28r), Livres de l'estat de l'ame (ff. 28v-51v) and Tractus de tribulatione (ff. 53r-82r) (source). In the 19th Century, it was bound together with BL Add. MS 28162 (source). The style of the artist seems to be linked to Lorraine in north-eastern France but shows the Parisian influences of Master Honoré (source).

The manuscript contains four full-page miniatures, each of which is divided into several compartments (source). Basic descriptions of the illustrations are provided by the British Library with the facsimile.
