The Howard Psalter is preceded by a collection of theological diagrams (the Speculum theologie, probably compiled by Johannes Metensis c. 1273) and a calendar of East Anglian saints - one image of Withburga, two of Ethelreda, one of Sexburga and one of Eligius (source). These are followed by a liturgical psalter with noted antiphons, canticles and ferial litanies; the Office of the Dead; and the Hours of the Passion, ending imperfectly in Vespers (source).
Each of the eight Psalter divisions is marked with a large historiated initial, full historiated borders and base-de-page scenes (source). There are also two smaller hisoriated initials, six small miniatures and some smaller decorated initials (source).
The earliest manuscript attribution is to Clement of Llanthony (prior of Llanthony, Wales and theologian) (source).
Basic descriptions of the illustrations are provided by the British Library with the facsimile.
